My dad was 24 when he was involved in the DDay landings. He was in the Royal Warwicks Regiment. He and his fellow commrades entered onto Gold Beach on the morning of 6/6/2944. His landing craftwas hit by a mortar bomb and they couldnt get the door open. A bren gun had to ram the craft several times to get them out, other wise they were sitting ducks, and my siblings snd I wouldnt e here today to tell the tale. After this my dad dad his battalion went on to fight in the battle of Caen.
