Arthur Rouse RN , 1902 to 1988, a Royal Marine commando, was able to shoot down a German plane on D-day using his oerlikon gun. His story can be found in The Lineage of Robert Anthony Yewdall, a copy of which is in the British Library. He is buried in Axminster Cemetary.
