My mother told me that my late father was in charge of a landing craft and had to knock out a very frightened man on board whose cries would have given them away. I know he trained at Hayling Island and prior to that was based in Scotland working on submarines. He ended the War based in Malaysia. His was a protected occupation but he wanted to go into active service. Thanks to all for their service and sacrifice.
