My father, 6th Airborne, landed early in the morning of the 6th June 1944 at the Caen/Orne bridges. He was wounded on the 9th day and sent back to hospital in the UK. He returned to action and fought in Belgium, the Ardennes and was in the flight of gliders that landed in Operation Varsity for the Rhine crossings where he died on the 24th March 1946. They were all very brave men.
