At the time of D-Day Ken was a 19 year-old Ordinary Seaman on the Captain Class frigate HMS Lawford. Landing Canadian soldiers on Juno beach. Picking up th wounded and transferring them to hospital ships. On 8th June 1944 the HMS Lawford was sunk by the Germans off Juno beach. Many seaman were killed, but Ken was lucky to survive. After this Ken spent the rest of the war serving on the Russian Convoys. His survival meant he had a Wife, 5 Children, Grandchildren, Great + Great Great Grandchildren
