My grandfather was in the night before D,day held of Germans from a church tower with granades etc until help arrived , a movie was made in connection, a bridge to far I believe , he was a very humble man, saved the lutenents or captains life , awarded the DCM for it , when I asked about the war his only words was it should never have happened.
