My father died in 1952 when I was 10 months old, so I have no memory of him. Luckily through my mother & other family members, I have many stories of his life. My father was part of Flottila 544, landing Canadian troops on Juno beach. The LCA’s were launched from SS Monowai about 7 miles off shore. He was awarded the DSC for leadership, courage & devotion to duty. We owe so much to all those involved on D day, how brave they were.
