This is a special place for you to share memories and photos of your loved ones who were involved in D-Day - and the wider war effort.

“…the spirit of the people, resolute, dedicated, burned like a bright flame, lit surely from those unseen fires which nothing can quench.”  King George VI, 6 June 1944 (D-Day)

My dad joined the Royal Navy giving a false date of birth ( as so many did) He served on HMS La Nantaise FY360 a ship requisitioned from the French Navy, which I believe was part of the D Day invasion. He served in Malta, Italy and Greece. He never spoke about the war. My Grandmother told me that when he came home on leave he would have terrible nightmares about Uboats. Thankfully his only war injury was losing the top of his Index finger in an accident with an anchor rope. Sadly died age 54
