D-Day 80 Memorial

This is a special place for you to share memories and photos of your loved ones who were involved in D-Day - and the wider war effort.

“…the spirit of the people, resolute, dedicated, burned like a bright flame, lit surely from those unseen fires which nothing can quench.”  King George VI, 6 June 1944 (D-Day)

I never got to meet you, you died on a Normandy Beach in 1944, having lied about your age to join up at 17 and fight for your country. You were laid to rest in a small cemetary in Hermanville sur Mer, and I have visited several times to pay my respects. Your sisters, my mother being one, never forgot you, and neither shall I. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice for my freedom.
