This is a special place for you to share memories and photos of your loved ones who were involved in D-Day - and the wider war effort.

“…the spirit of the people, resolute, dedicated, burned like a bright flame, lit surely from those unseen fires which nothing can quench.”  King George VI, 6 June 1944 (D-Day)

Grandad Fred was born in 1899, joined Royal Navy in 1915 and served till 1937. He was recalled to service in 1939. He saw action at Narvik, Dunkirk, Crete, and on Mediterranean and Murmansk convoys. On D-day he was aboard HMS Diadem alongside HMS Belfast providing beach bombardment and anti aircraft cover. Despite him 'crossing the bar' in 1978 our whole family are incredibly proud of his service especially at the beginning of the fight for freedom on the European mainland, God Bless Grandad.
