Dad was born 4th June 1918. He signed up in the first militia in 1939 and served with the Royal Engineers driving Churchill tanks. He saw action in Dunkirk. On 6th June 1944, 2 days after his 26th birthday, he and his comrades landed on Sword Beach. He spent the next 8 months advancing towards Germany and was finally wounded in action in February 1945 when his tank was hit. He was pulled from the tank by the tank commander who saved dad's life. No words can express how proud we are of you.
