My Dad was in the Royal Navy and was there on that day, 6th June 1944. He luckily survived and went on to become a father who me and my brother adored. He was a strong character who lived a decent life, I often asked him about those days during the war but he was somewhat reluctant to speak about them, he'd obviously been affected by the things he saw. We owe so much to the guys and women who served in the forces at that time... may they all rest in peace.
