My Dad was crew I believe on the hospital ship Amsterdam on D Day, I remember him telling me about rescuing lots of American and Canadian troops, plus the terrible loss of life when the ship was sunk by a torpedo. Luckily he survived and lived until he was 81. I was born late July that year.
