Grateful thanks to my Uncle Norman. When was was declared in1939 my gran said 'Thank God our Norman's still at school', he would have been aged 13. In due course he received his 'call up' papers and joined the navy. Norman was assigned to HMS Loyalty, which would have served as part of 'Operation Neptune' off Gold Beach. However, HMS Loyalty was torpedoed on 22nd August & sank within 7 mins, Norman drowned. God Bless, I have the privilege to live in a free country because of your sacrifice.
