This is a special place for you to share memories and photos of your loved ones who were involved in D-Day - and the wider war effort.

“…the spirit of the people, resolute, dedicated, burned like a bright flame, lit surely from those unseen fires which nothing can quench.”  King George VI, 6 June 1944 (D-Day)

So proud of my Dad Ron Ridgley who landed on Juno beach on D Day with the 5th Royal Berkshire Regt. He took a motorbike off the landing craft to be passed to an officer on the beach. After fighting through France, Belgium and Germany with the 7th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry he was demobbed in 1946. He was one of the lucky ones and lived to celebrate his 100th birthday.
