Sidney Such – 4th Special Service Brigade - Signal Troop Never Forgotten - 80 years ago today, my uncle, Sidney Such then aged 19 landed on D-Day as a Royal Marine of 48 Commando, part of the HQ of 4th Special Service Brigade. His job as part of the Signal troop was to pass messages from HQ to the forward positions by whatever means possible be it on foot, by push bike or motorcycle when they became available. The motorbikes were lost in another landing Craft during the assault. He landed at 9a
