Thanks for the memories. I, together with my sister Averil & Mother Daisy Frances Butcher, were evacuated from Southend Essex & ended up staying in a mobile home in a field owned by the Norman Farm family in Bradpole, nr Bridport Dorset. American soldiers of the 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion were also accommodated in that field to prepare for the Normandy assaults, brave men all. I was with them as a child, am now 87.
