My Grandfather served with RNVR (previous Merchant Navy) as an Engineer on a Corvette in the North Atlantic Convoys in WWll. I have been unable to track down his war record so have no knowledge of the ships he was on. He never spoke of the war or what they went through. I only remember his saying about the sound of the torpedos when in the belly of the ship and waiting for the hit. He survived the war when others didn't. He didn't get the recognition he deserved.
