RN then DEMS gunner. Atlantic/Arctic/Med Convoys and Normandy. We never heard about the horrors he saw and experienced, but he did tell us that he'd been torpedoed 3 times [couldn't swim!]. One ocassion, he was adrift for a number of days before being picked up. His family were told he was missing, presumed drowned. Big shock when he walked through the door weeks later, and they were still in mourning. Another time he was picked up and taken to Guantanamo, until he got home via New York.
