In memory of my father Patrick Churchill LdH, CdG (w.Silver Star), 1924-2018, RM Commando 1942-46, D-Day & Walcheren. Dad volunteered aged 17 and completed his Commando training at Achnacarry in 1943. On D-Day he landed on Juno Beach with 2nd RM Armoured Support Regiment. After a month in Normandy he was seconded to 4 (Army) Cdo as signaller to French Tp 10I/A and took part in the landing at Flushing, during which he won the Croix de Guerre. In 2004 he was awarded the LdH by President Chirac.
